Allowing users to give reviews and leave comments on the mods.

I think it would be a great idea if we were able to leave comments on mods and rate them. I am from the sims community and I feel like this would be a great addition to the website because it allows us to have a better understanding of the mod from other peoples perspectives and it allows us to leave reviews for the creators to see and know what they could improve, and allow us to appreciate their work better

    Admin response

Hi! Comments are available on Project pages on the website, but it is up to the Owner of the project to decide if they want to enable them.

Download numbers alone are not enough for users to understand whether a mod or modpack is interesting. Some mods have high downloads, but when I experienced them myself, I didn't feel they deserved such high numbers. Downloads will only continue to increase, with one deceived player leading to the next. Some mods are really well-made, but apart from downloading and sharing with friends, there are no other ways to support them. If you want to leave a comment for the creator, you can only do so in their Discord group. I believe adding a review system would make it easier for mod creators and players to better understand the mods and modpacks.

It should be up to the users. Having such a disjointed method of contacting creators is broken.

I understand that mod making is happening in free time of people. But I think it should be possible that we, users of the mods, give feedback to these mods. I am having problems with a great mod and can not give the mod author feedback about this. So my opinion is that it isn't to the mod author to decide to have a comment tab, but that it must be obligatory to add the comment to the modpages so we can give this feedback.

Hey Admin, Respectfully, I disagree. If there's an issue with the mod, I'd like to know without having to hunt down the mod on the Internet, where the site might be riddled with Viruses or otherwise. If I have an issue with a mod, I'd like to post a Bug Report TO the mod author without having to pay for their Patreon for the Privilege of messaging them. Just have the bug reporting like the Nexus, just not as greedy as Nexus

Before you post your idea…

This board is being moderated, if you wish for your idea(s) to go public, please consider the following:

  1. Search for existing ideas

If your idea already exists, vote for it, this will increase the chances for the idea to become reality. Duplicate ideas only split and lower votes

  2. No tech-support

This board is for new ideas and feature suggestions, for technical issues or bug reports, visit/contact CurseForge Support

  3. English only

This ensures that the idea is accessible to a wider audience and makes it easier for others to understand and vote for the idea

  4. No profanity

Any ideas posted with foul language will not be published and get deleted

  5. Stay on point

Avoid posting 'lists' of different ideas, we won't be able to address them with a proper status and they will get less votes from others, each idea should have its own post
