Currently, Overwolf plan to make the 'Allow third party addon managers' option be ON by default. So from December, all authors who get reward points from Overwolf will suddenly see their points drop by quite a lot without them doing anything.
Surely, it should be the other way around? Authors reward points should stay the same unless the author wants to allow third party addon manager support in exchange for losing reward points?
I say this because some people, who don't care about authors one bit, will probably boycott addon authors that choose to protect their reward points over third party addon managers. But if the option to allow third party addon managers is OFF by default, there would be too many authors to boycott so it will be better for everyone - including authors because without them, there wouldn't be any addons.
This will turn into a war between authors and WowUp and some people are already hating on authors who provide the addons in the first place. If not for authors, there wouldn't be a WowUp at all. Nor an Overwolf come to that.
The number of authors keeping Wow addons up-to-date is getting smaller as authors quit Wow. People on the forums are asking for alternatives to addons they have used for years because so many authors have quit and are no longer updating their addons. Removing reward points from the authors that are left is the last thing that Wow needs so the option should be OFF by default to at least try to persuade the remaining authors to keep updating their addons.
Authors need some love.
