Create a CurseForge Desktop App for Authors

As a CurseForge creator, I’d love to see a dedicated desktop app for authors — similar to the existing standalone CurseForge app players use to manage and update their mods/addons.

Right now, uploading or managing projects requires going through the website portal, which can be confusing and inconsistent. For example, certain actions — like joining or managing the Rewards Program — often redirect you to the legacy CurseForge site, making navigation feel disjointed and outdated.

A desktop authoring app would simplify this entire process by letting creators:

  • Upload new mods or updates directly from their computer.

  • Manage project details, descriptions, versions, and changelogs in one place.

  • View download stats and earnings at a glance.

  • Handle Rewards Program enrollment and status without being redirected.

  • Sync local project folders for quick publishing and version tracking.

Essentially, it could function identically to how the CurseForge app updates mods for players, but built specifically for authors. This would streamline the publishing workflow, reduce confusion with multiple website versions, and make the platform far more convenient for active developers.

Before you post your idea…

This board is being moderated, if you wish for your idea(s) to go public, please consider the following:

  1. Search for existing ideas

If your idea already exists, vote for it, this will increase the chances for the idea to become reality. Duplicate ideas only split and lower votes

  2. No tech-support

This board is for new ideas and feature suggestions, for technical issues or bug reports, visit/contact CurseForge Support

  3. English only

This ensures that the idea is accessible to a wider audience and makes it easier for others to understand and vote for the idea

  4. No profanity

Any ideas posted with foul language will not be published and get deleted

  5. Stay on point

Avoid posting 'lists' of different ideas, we won't be able to address them with a proper status and they will get less votes from others, each idea should have its own post
