Add Local Server Support to CurseForge

đź’ˇ Idea: One-Click Local Server Setup in CurseForge

Imagine being able to launch a local Minecraft server (e.g. Forge) directly from CurseForge—no more downloading server files, tweaking Java paths, or dealing with complex setups. With this feature, users could simply create a custom server modpack, add their mods, and then click a "Play as Server" button. CurseForge would handle the backend—running the server through the included run.bat or equivalent—just like it does for client modpacks.

🎮 Who would benefit?

  • Casual players hosting quick modded sessions with friends

  • Content creators testing multiplayer modpacks

  • Beginners experimenting with local server setups

  • Anyone who runs both a client and local server side-by-side (like I do!)

🔧 Why is it useful?
It removes technical barriers and saves time. No more jumping through hoops to set up a server—just mod, click, and play.

This feature would make CurseForge more than a launcher—it would become a complete modded multiplayer platform, right out of the box.

I support this idea. I think this is perfect for local server setup so that several players can play different mods/modpacks anytime from the same LAN, or if setup via public IP to remote users anywhere, as long as they consent to know what they're doing. It'd be great if CurseForge could support this feature for Minecraft.

Hold on!
