Official Flatpak Version

Suggestion: Official Flatpak Version of CurseForge for Linux

Hello CurseForge team,

I’d like to suggest the development of an official Flatpak version of your application for Linux. Currently, CurseForge is distributed as an AppImage, but most modern Linux distributions have built-in Flatpak and Flathub support, making installation and updates much more convenient.

Why would Flatpak be beneficial?
Better integration with modern Linux distributions.
Easier updates thanks to Flathub’s centralized package management.
Automatic dependency handling, reducing manual setup.
Enhanced security and compatibility due to Flatpak sandboxing.

An official Flatpak version would make it significantly easier for Linux users to install, update, and use CurseForge without the need for manual configuration of AppImage files. Is this something you might consider in the future?

Thanks for all your hard work—I’m excited to see future improvements!

Updating this for 2026: Official Flatpak support is now a necessity. On modern distributions like Fedora Kinoite, the current AppImage fails to launch entirely due to the deprecated FUSE 2 dependency (see error: image_7486a3.jpg).

With the rise of immutable systems and the Steam Deck, relying on legacy AppImage libraries is no longer viable. A Flatpak on Flathub would solve these mounting and permission issues once and for all. Please prioritize this for the upcoming Hytale release!
