Currently the class "Rooms/Lots" has categories of only a few of the lot types from the game. I understand there's already general categories and there might be too many to add, but I would like to see at least the ones below, as I consider the ones below to be distinct enought to deserve their own tag (all links go to their respective wiki page):
I want to highlight these first three, as they're different types of houses hard to search for, as a smaller house isn't necessarily below the amount of tiles to be considered a "tiny home"; a residental rental can be mistaken as a vacation one, instead of being a lot with rented rooms; and the last one can easily mean something else.
This board is being moderated, if you wish for your idea(s) to go public, please consider the following:
If your idea already exists, vote for it, this will increase the chances for the idea to become reality. Duplicate ideas only split and lower votes
This board is for new ideas and feature suggestions, for technical issues or bug reports, visit/contact CurseForge Support
This ensures that the idea is accessible to a wider audience and makes it easier for others to understand and vote for the idea
Any ideas posted with foul language will not be published and get deleted
Avoid posting 'lists' of different ideas, we won't be able to address them with a proper status and they will get less votes from others, each idea should have its own post
This would be SO important to help categorize sims uploads and, also, to improve the searchability of items, helping creators get more downloads.
Hello,
Certainly, let's explore how to better categorize lot types within the "Rooms/Lots" class.
Here's a breakdown of how we can add more specific categories for the lot types you've mentioned, keeping in mind the existing general categories and the potential for a large number of lot types:
Proposed New Categories within "Rooms/Lots"
Small Homes: This category would specifically target houses that are smaller in size, regardless of the exact tile count. This would help distinguish them from "Tiny Homes" which might have a minimum tile count requirement.
Residential Rentals: This category would clearly label lots that are specifically designed for renting out rooms to residents, differentiating them from vacation homes or other rental properties.
Community Lots: This category would encompass lots that serve a community function, such as parks, libraries, or community centers.
Considerations:
Granularity vs. Simplicity: Adding too many categories could make the system overly complex. We need to find a balance between providing specific categories for important distinctions and maintaining a user-friendly system.
Existing Categories: We should carefully consider how these new categories interact with existing general categories like "Residential," "Commercial," and "Community."
User Interface: The user interface should be designed to easily filter and search based on these new categories.
Implementation:
Data Structure: The "Rooms/Lots" class would need to be updated to include these new category fields.
Data Entry: Existing lots would need to be categorized accordingly.
Search Functionality: The search function would be enhanced to allow filtering by these new categories.
Example:
Original:
Class: Rooms/Lots
Category: Residential
Lot: House A (could be small)
Lot: House B (could be a rental)
Category: Community
Lot: Park
Revised:
Class: Rooms/Lots
Category: Residential
Subcategory: Small Home
Lot: House A
Subcategory: Residential Rental
Lot: House B
Category: Community
Subcategory: Community Lot
Lot: Park
Note: This is a basic framework. The specific implementation would depend on the game's existing structure and the desired level of detail.
I believe these new categories would significantly improve the organization and searchability of lot types within the game, making it easier for players to find the specific types of lots they are looking for.
