Currently, when updating mods in a modpack, it’s easy to lose track of the original version included by the modpack creator. This can lead to compatibility issues or crashes, especially if a newer version hasn’t been tested with the modpack.
Proposal:
Add a feature to Minecraft launchers (like CurseForge or ATLauncher) that allows users to clearly see the exact version of each mod included in the modpack. This could be achieved by adding metadata or an information tab in the launcher that displays:
Mod name.
Version used by the creator.
Compatibility notes (if provided).
Benefits:
Users will have a reliable tool to check compatibility.
Modpack creators will receive fewer support requests caused by unofficial updates.
It will make restoring a stable configuration much easier.
How it should work:
When creating a modpack, the launcher could generate a file (e.g., mod_versions.json
) listing all mods and their versions.
Users could access this information directly in the launcher, without digging through modpack files.
If a mod is updated, the launcher could notify the user that they are using a version different from the original one.
