accessibility for vision and photosensitivity

Who it benefits: folks with partial blindness/low vision, photosensitivity from neuro conditions/brain injuries, photosensitive epilepsy, colourblindness, migraines, and others

Where: Curseforge App (I play/mod Minecraft, but these are great anywhere)

I have extreme photosensitivity that has similar triggers to epilepsy, along with a few others (due to Visual Snow Syndrome, if that is helpful). Also know several folks with vision accessibility needs that simply can't game when certain settings aren't available.

I have a few requests for an accessibility settings tab in the app as there are none currently. I know these probably involve a lot of work behind the scenes so I don't ask them lightly, but they could really help.

  • Disable motion: option to disable motion (gifs, pretty much). Windows settings don't work for the app.

  • Contrast: reduce/increase contrast, some folks need higher due to having low vision, other folks (like me) need low contrast for photosensitivity and palinopsia

  • Text size

  • Spacing: change spacing of text-amount of space between lines, some folks have a lot of difficulty when lines are very close together. (on the flip side, it would also be lovely to have the option of viewing more mods at once)

  • Photosensitivity info links/suggestions for authors, maybe on the website? Could even be just a link to info pages (I'm happy to give more info and links!), and recommendation when publishing mods that they include in the descriptions whether their mod might not be suitable for players with photosensitivities. Most folks (understandably) simply don't know any details/thresholds around what can make people sick or have seizures. Strobing lights is the most commonly known, but it's much more than that.

  • Colourblindness settings (or black and white? Sorry I don't know as much about this)

I'm aware some folks tend to think "well, just don't play games or watch anything then." I've been told that, and of course nothing can be 100% perfect. But folks with these sorts of disabilities (speaking for myself anyway) can end up spending a lot of time at home because of them, so cutting out entertainment options is sad. The Discord app has fantastic accessibility settings (I can't speak for everyone, but they help me out massively), so maybe those could help as a reference?

Thank you SO much for your time and consideration, and please let me know if I can help in any way!
