The Minecraft Launcher has become completely bloated over the years with all kinds of crap, and this latest update was the straw as I cannot even login because of some DRM crap (WPA files missing). I believe this is time for the launcher to be dropped once and for all, just like what other modding platforms (Atlauncher, Tekkit, etc) have done.
