Problem:
If I want to exclude a single category from my view, at this moment in time, I would need to mark down every other category.
Solution:
Add an exclusion filter to the client.
(E.g. Marking down 'API and Library' with the exclusion filter would make it the single category to not appear on the results)

It's worse than that- marking every other category would NOT exclude anything that is in more than one category, so if you select everything but, in your example, API&Library, then if something is, say, categorized as Gameplay and API&Library, it would still show up.
This isn't a common problem with some categories- APIs rarely overlap with other categories- but if, say, you want to filter out the Translations category, or if you want a modpack that doesn't have the Quests category, or anything else that commonly overlaps... you're out of luck, because the basic function of exclusion filters has yet to be added to a website that's meant to make sharing and obtaining mods easier.
