say your pack is in 1.16.5 the launcher will not let you download mods from 1.16.4 even when the mod is compatible.

CurseForge relies on the meta-data tagged by the authors. I see what you mean. Perhaps this can be a power-user feature, I will mark it accordingly for future consideration, thank you for clarifying.

It'll actually be best to incorporate this function into CurseForge, as there are too many mod authors to contact to request updating their tags to 1.16.5, a lot of these mod creators are unreachable too.
This should be a feature, as it'll encourage more people to upgrade their modpacks (like myself) from 1.16.4 (which is exploitable) to 1.16.5.
