If your want for someone know about your website, want to increase your customer base you need to visit the website which can help you with safe promoting. This should just be a way to tell that a project is more likely to be of higher quality. It could have no effect on anything else.
This is an overall bad idea. Kree Zuhl said as much himself. If a hacker, say, were to hack into mezz's account (the guy who made JEI for Minecraft), just about everyone who plays modded Minecraft could get a virus apcked ith the 'next' version of JEI. Or, if a person would be to bid their time, there might be some SERIOUS issues with most games.
To add to what Kree Zuhl said this has happend before with PlusTIC
This is not a good idea. It can lead to abuse. Should an untrusted person with access to the trusted persons account upload something malicious, you'll then have a serious problem. Just stay away from this concept.
